General view about air compressors is that they are used for filling tires with air pressure, but it functions much more than that. Experts in construction industry use air compressor to provide effective pressurised air to the power equipments. They can be easily seen to be used in refrigerators, air conditioners and motorcycle, to name few. Use on a large scale has prompted companies producing air compressor in India and around the globe to come up with better advanced products.
Compressors simply convert gaseous energy into kinetic form by compressing and pressurising air. Next the air is allowed to flow with sudden gush. Air is stored into compressor tanks, wherein the process is more manageable. Because of its portability people use it to fill air in their vehicles tires whenever the need may arise.
There are two methods in which air can be compressed. They are through negative displacement or the positive one. The main integrals of the compressor includes air filters. Filters remove dirt and contamination after compression is done with. Pistons used in compressors pump air to a particular spot. The three basic types of compressors are rotary, centrifugal and reciprocating. Further classification is on the basis of various other features such as stages, cooling based and lubrication.
Air compressors are some of the most common, yet most misunderstood, tools there are in mainstream use. Air compressors come in different styles that are intended for particular uses, and knowing what types of compressors work best for a given situation can make the difference in productivity, costs and safety.
Air compressors fall into three basic categories: continuous-run models, piston drive models and rotary screw models. There are also centrifugal air compressors, although, these are very rarely encountered outside of extremely large, industrial applications, such as those involving mass power generation. These three main types of compressors dominate the market, and while each has features and accessories that can expand or restrict its applications, these models encompass the majority of applications for home, business and industrial uses requiring air compression.
Continuous-Run Compressors
Electric air compressor are extremely necessary to own. They are of great importance at home. There are varieties of inflatable and portable air compressor powered by electricity. The fundamental design is similar to any air pump but the mechanical power is given by electricity in place of pumping air inside.
You have to understand that electric air pumps are not just like any air pumps. This air pump should not be mistaken to other air pumps. Electric pumps are great in helping you puff up all the inflatable items in your home, without creating too much sound and not drawing in too much energy. Therefore, you must look for electric air pumps because they are soundless and efficient.
The most fundamental devise has a mobile piston, which fills the air in your things. Electric air compressor are bulkier and use lots of energy. They are just similar to bicycle air pumps, but have been created to function electrically.

A Great Toy to Have
If you have any amount of air tools in the garage then you will need a portable air compressor to run them. Most garage hobby mechanics will choose portables over a stationary because they can be used in lots of different applications. A portable unit gives you the option of moving the compressor out the garage and hooking up a nail gun to work in the house or yard.
Electric or Gas Powered
Your auto air conditioning unit is a system that functions much like your cardio-vascular system. The compressor is the heart that pumps a refrigerant called Freon throughout the air conditioning unit. Freon, a combination of gas and liquid, causes air to cool when compressed.
Like your ordinary household air conditioning unit, your auto air conditioning system will not work as it should when Freon levels are low. Make sure you have a mechanic check Freon levels regularly before the unit experiences major breakdown.
The ability of the Freon to carry heated air away and leave cool air behind depends on the pressure applied to it. Air coming into the condenser helps in this process. This is the reason why, sometimes, for older models of ar conditioners, the temperature is cooler when the car travels at full speed than when it stands idle. This allows the compressor to pump Freon harder and faster. Therefore, the air conditioner system operates much more efficiently.
I started out my woodworking career with a quarter-sheet electric sander, quickly graduated to a random orbit electric disc sander and finally realized that I could substantially shorten sanding time with an air palm sander. I settled on a 5" Dynabrade sander and Sears 3HP air compressor. It took me less than an hour to realize my mistake: The little compressor I bought could not begin to keep up air demands of the air sander. It would run out of air pressure almost immediately and the air sander would slow down to the point of being useless. I would then have to wait for several minutes for the pressure to build up again to get another minute of sanding.
To make matters worse, I had three people hired as sanders and so I would need to keep three machines running at top speed all day long. I did some math and discovered that I would need a ten horsepower air compressor with a large tank to do this. I was lucky to find a used one for not too much money but it required three phase power and lots of it. More money went out for an electrician to wire it up to the building's 208 volt 3-phase power. The big air compressor was so loud it could be heard all over the building and down the block but it powered those three sanders from dawn to dusk. The good news is that it paid for itself in saved sanding time very quickly.
Air sanders are aggressive and efficient. They are light in weight when compared to their lesser electric cousins. My sanders took to them immediately and production took off. I was as happy as they were. Soon there was another machine besides the air compressor required having large amounts of air in the shop: an Onsrud inverted pin router. It was also great to be able to blow sawdust of benches and machine while cleaning upon the shop at the end of the day. The compressor was also used to spray finishes on the completed furniture.

In US the compressed air systems attest to .5 billion energy costs annually. There are so many compressors bought everyday, but there will be many things you like to know before you fork out your hard earned cash on one.
There are however, three air compressor types
Reciprocating air compressor Rotary screw air compressor Rotary centrifugal air compressor
