Today a 12v air compressor can prove extremely useful in a number of different situations. But generally people who like outdoor activities such as off roading and camping will find this particular piece of equipment extremely useful. Certainly for those who enjoy camping such equipment can prove useful in getting air beds inflated in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.

Certainly before the introduction of 12v air compressors if you took inflatable beds with you when camping then you had a number of options available to you in getting them blown up. First of you could take them with you already inflated, but this meant space in your vehicle being taken up. Plus carrying them proved awkward. The other options were to carry with you a small foot pump or the kind of pump you would use to inflate bicycle tyres. Both of these are effective but of course it would take at least 1/2 hour to an hour to get sufficient amounts of air into them.

4 Tips When Inflating Camping Gear With an Air Compressor

Where as when it comes to the 12v air compressors now available it is simply a case of plugging them into the vehicles cigarette lighter and turning them on. However when inflating any kind of air beds there are certain things you need to take into consideration before you do so. Below we offer some tips for blowing up air beds using this type of equipment that you may find useful.

Tip 1 - Before you actually do inflate air beds using an air compressor look to see what method the manufacturer of it actually recommends. Some will recommend that you do so manually, whilst others recommend use of a pump. If you use a pump on those where manual inflation is recommended you are likely to cause damage to the material and so in a matter of time it may begin to come apart.

Tip 2 - When it comes to inflating your air with a 12v air compressor you must first insert the end of it into the inflation valve on the air bed. Make sure that when you turn the pump on you have hold of the end of the hose from it still in the valve.

Tip 3 - As you inflate the air bed you should occasionally turn it off to check how much air the bed contains. Remember you want it inflated sufficiently that it not only feels comfortable to lie on but will hold your weight as well. As soon as you feel that the bed has been inflated sufficiently then quickly remove the nozzle of the pump from the air beds inflation valve and place the cover of it immediately. This will help to prevent some air not all of it from escaping.

Tip 4 - It is important that when it comes to buying a 12v air compressor you look to see what level of maximum pressure it can achieve. Ideally if you are looking to take yours when you go camping then it should be able to work up to a level of 50psi. This will not only ensure that it is capable of inflating air beds but also your vehicles tyres.
